The East Perth 2020 Plus Plan is in the "go position." We are excited and grateful to the East Perth Community for pitching in to make it happen. It is the result of member surveys, the Perth City Summit workshop and a more recent planning session. Additionally, we received 54 separate submissions from residents and business owners.
It's clear members would like to see more community-oriented activities in the area eg: Tai Chi in the park, continuation of the Community Walking Group and dragon boat racing. And more street art is also on the agenda. But you have also specified that the programs need to be authentic and be more than "sugar-rush" activations.
The empty commercial and retail tenancies remain a barrier to the East Perth in which we want to live. However, virtually all members are here for the long haul and agreed the partnership with Activate Perth and its Fill this Space program is a step forward.
The plan program is subject to grant and sponsorship funding and that procurement process is well underway. Some projects are already funded or self-funded (ie participants pay to play) and the timing of the balance coincides with specific grant availability in all tiers of government. We have also communicated our priorities to other agencies such as Lotterywest.
A Corporate Partner membership has been created and we are thrilled the ibis Styles East Perth Hotel is the inaugural 2020 Partner.
